Born in Shawnee
Brad Pitt of Shawnee, Missouri was born and raised there and still has a deep-seated love for his hometown. While he may be the star of the new blockbuster film “Breaking Bad,” his roots can be felt everywhere he goes; from Louise Fluke monument at Centennial Park to Gordon Cooper Technology Center – it appears that Pitt is truly a native son.
Over the years, Shawnee has maintained its identity as an independent city with a wide array of activities and amenities for its citizens. Even as it has grown into a suburban city within Kansas City’s metropolitan region, it never lost its sense of identity or ability to engage in larger issues facing its county, state and region.
For the most part, this has meant providing people with an improved life and environment to live in. This has included providing outstanding education, fostering a strong work ethic, and creating opportunities for advancement.
In the late 1800s, Shawnee developed into a major railroad hub and agricultural service town. Thanks to its abundant cotton, potatoes and peaches, Shawnee could support an array of businesses that helped farmers transport their produce to market.
Shawnee experienced rapid growth during this period due to several factors, but one in particular: the Choctaw Railroad. In 1896, they built terminal facilities and relocated their main repair shops there; providing employment opportunities and stimulating economic activity within the city.
The 1920s oil boom provided fuel to the city’s expansion. Situated near Earlsboro and Seminole, two major oil fields, it spurred residential construction, the entertainment industry, as well as oil-related businesses.
At this time, the city also constructed several new public buildings such as the county courthouse, municipal auditorium, high school football stadium and several elementary schools with funds provided by the federal government through the New Deal initiative.
Raised in Springfield
Brad Pitt was raised in a working class family of Springfield, Missouri. His father owned a trucking company and his mother worked as a school counselor. While attending Kickapoo High School, Pitt became active in sports, student government and school musicals.
He left college two credits short of graduating to pursue a career in acting. Ultimately, he relocated to Los Angeles and began what would become one of Hollywood’s most renowned and successful actors.
His early films garnered him some serious recognition, but it took time and dedication for him to truly establish himself as a film star. At first he was known for his sultry and quirky roles; however, over time his talent for dramatic, edgy performances developed.
Though his career has taken him far, he still finds time to visit and donate his money to charitable organizations. Furthermore, he’s an enthusiastic supporter of his hometown.
Pitt’s hometown of Springfield, Missouri is renowned for its many colleges and universities as well as a vibrant artistic and cultural community.
The Springfield Regional Arts Council organizes and coordinates a range of arts events throughout the city, such as First Friday Art Walk and Walnut Street Art Fest.
Springfield is renowned for its historic sites and monuments. Additionally, there are a plethora of museums located here as well.
Brad Pitt has never forgotten his hometown despite his success as an actor and often visits Springfield to give back and donate funds to charity.
He often returns to his hometown for special events. He enjoys having a close connection to his home state and cherishes the friendships he’s formed there.
At a young age, Pitt developed an affinity for basketball and tennis. To pursue his interests, he formed the “Cherokee Rejects,” a team composed of kids who didn’t make the middle school team but still wanted to compete.
As an adult, Pitt has made his mark on the world as both an actor and producer. He’s been nominated for an Academy Award and received multiple accolades for his work; People magazine even named him their “Sexiest Man Alive” twice! Additionally, Pitt volunteers extensively for causes around the globe.
Married to Angelina Jolie
Brad Pitt is one of the world’s most recognizable movie stars. His resume includes roles in several blockbusters such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975), Fitzcarraldo (1982) and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007). Additionally, Pitt produced and appeared in “The Big Short,” a documentary about the housing market bubble.
The actor first gained notoriety through a series of minor roles, but really made his mark in the 1990s with roles in Ridley Scott’s “Thelma & Louise” and Quentin Tarantino’s “True Romance.” For both films he was nominated for an Academy Award.
Jolie became pregnant with their first child, Shiloh. She went on to adopt Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Vivienne; as well as writing and directing their second feature-length film By the Sea (2015) which followed shortly afterwards.
In 2008, the couple committed to a three-year lease of Chateau Miraval – an 880 acre estate located near Correns, France that featured its own vineyard, olive groves, lake and fountains.
The couple celebrated their nuptials in an intimate ceremony held at their property. All of their children were present, with Maddox and Pax walking their mother down the aisle while Zahara and Vivienne serving as flower girls.
However, their union did not last and Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt two years after their nuptials. Despite this lengthy separation, the couple managed to reach a custody agreement during this time.
However, their legal battle continues. The couple’s six children remain at the heart of their ongoing legal dispute.
According to reports, Pitt failed to provide his children with meaningful child support during the separation. As a result, Jolie claimed he was an absent father and has turned their children against him. In October, TMZ published an anonymous report alleging Jolie “has poisoned her children against her ex.”
A spokesperson for the couple denied these assertions and stated, “We have never had any problems with the kids in the past. In fact, we adore them all deeply.”
Due to their ongoing custody battle, both actor and Jolie have spent a great deal of time in court – both for their individual cases as well as to argue about child custody. Furthermore, both parties have undergone individual counseling sessions and undergone random drug tests in connection with this dispute.

DeAndre Hunter Injury Update
Hunter has been struggling with knee issues since the start of the season, leading him to miss two out of the last four games. Further testing revealed a bone bruise and strain in that same area which could keep him sidelined for another game or two.
Hunter has missed Atlanta’s last three games, but he remains an important piece of their offense and should have plenty of chances to return before the All-Star break.
The fourth-year forward’s scoring potential is relatively limited, so he must add more in other categories to keep his fantasy value relevant. With improved on-ball creation and defensive help next season, however, he could find success.
Impact
Hunter had 20 points (9-15 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), 4 rebounds and three assists in Wednesday’s 125-108 win against Orlando. The Hawks won their third straight to cut the Magic’s lead to two games, as Hunter continued his impressive offensive play.
His shooting has improved from 40 percent in the first half of the season to 45 percent so far, and he’s making more than one three-pointer per game for the first time in his career.
He added a steal to the win, but his minutes have decreased from 30 per game last year to just 22.
Collins has been an integral part of the team’s comeback this season and could be a major force for years to come if he can improve his 3-point shooting. In each of his first five NBA seasons, Collins shot at least 30 percent from downtown, yet this season only made 21.9 percent of his launches.
Due to an injury, it’s possible the Hawks have a rotation spot open. However, it seems more likely they’ll start rookie Cam Reddish while Hunter is out. In his last two games against Orlando Magic, Reddish has averaged 16 points and 9 rebounds over 36 minutes in victories.
John Collins (left ankle sprain) and Kris Dunn (non-covid illness) are also out with injuries. Although they won’t be back in time for Friday’s game against Denver, both players should return for Monday night’s matchup against Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Hawks don’t appear to be in the best position for victory, and if they lose it, their streak of making the playoffs will come to an end for the first time in franchise history. But if they can get back on track, this would be an important win as they attempt to return to the top of the Eastern Conference and build some momentum heading into their All-Star break.
Hawks face a difficult situation, but they should be able to prevail if they can hold off an aggressive Houston team and stay healthy. Hunter may need rest during the All-Star break, but he should return soon after as minutes return to normal. https://www.youtube.com/embed/8YPwMj-xSss
